Dick’s Supports CityLax Albany

On Monday December 10, 2018 the staff of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Albany, NY store (Crossgates Mall) presented a check for $1,000 to CityLax Albany.The grant spearheaded by Mike Tesoriero, a member of the UAlbany Lacrosse 5oth Anniversary Team and Store Manager of Dick’s Albany, was made possible through the Dick’s Sports Matter Foundation.

In regard to the grant, George Leveille of CityLax Albany offered,

“This grant from Dick’s will he used to support our Boys and Girls Lacrosse Communities Days (LCD) at UAlbany on Feb 9 (Boys, UA-Siena scrimmage) and April 6 (Girls, UA-UNH game). The LCD’s purpose is to encourage growth of the sport in all communities throughout the region with a special emphasis on urban communities. These events will be for 8th grade and younger players and will involve clinics run by UAlbany prior to their scrimmage or game that day.” 

In addition to Tesoriero and other Dick’s Albany staff, attendees at the presentation included Albany High School Athletic Director Kathy Ryan, UAlbany Men’s Head Coach Scott Marr, UAlbany Women’s Head Coach Katie Rowan, HVCC Head Coach (and UAlbany Lacrosse alum) Matt Johnson, Sage Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach Ryan Lanigan and Assistant Coach Chris Fleming, Randy Churchill, Bob Kelley, Nazir Tingling (former Albany High School player), George Leveille, and Yokima Bennett of CityLax Albany, and  Lenny Ricchiuti of Albany PAL.

Tesoriero offered his thanks to the college coaches and others who attended in support and recognition of the effort, and invited Dick’s holiday shoppers to continue helping by either rounding up their change at checkout, or otherwise making a donation to help save local youth sports.
