O2 Merge National Box Lacrosse and Attack Box Lacrosse to Create O2 National Attack
O2 Lacrosse has become a Northeast powerhouse in the box lacrosse circuit. A quicker version of standard field lacrosse, box lacrosse provides players of all ages the opportunity to hone the speed of their play. As part of O2’s continued commitment to be an innovative, year-long training program, they are excited to announce their growth and the merger of their National Box Lacrosse program with Attack Box Lacrosse out of Albany, NY to create the O2 National Attack team in the Albany region. O2 National Box will still be headquartered in NJ and continue to offer their youth and high school programs, teams and tournaments.
In addition to being a quicker version of play, box lacrosse is played on a concrete, indoor surface (usually a street hockey rink) between two teams of six. While similar skills are needed to play both versions of the game, box lacrosse provides players of all ages the opportunity to continue to improve their skills while adapting on the fly to a more fast-paced and confined style of play.
O2 National Attack tryouts will start on November 2018. O2 will be hosting teams for boys in both youth and high school age brackets. Additionally, on January 26 – 27th 2019, O2 National Attack will be hosting the first ever Capital Cup Invitational, a sanctioned USBOXLA Tournament, at Knickerbacker Rink in Lansingburgh, New York.
“We are passionate about box lacrosse and dedicated to growing the game. It has been an honor to bring this style of play to this region and merging with likeminded, O2 National, will bring our box brand to a larger stage and grow the game and player development to another level in our region,” said Eric Padelford, owner and co-founder of Attack Box Lacrosse.
O2 National Box Lacrosse is a year-round box lacrosse training program that helps players of all ages hone their skills and work with professional players on a consistent basis at tournaments, summer camps and on off-season teams. Attack Box Lacrosse was founded in 2013, based out of Albany, NY. The first and only program within 150 miles teaching and competing in REAL box lacrosse. They have focused on developing players as young as 7 years old through high school aged. The Attack spent their first four years competing in the North American Minor Lacrosse Association (a league comprised of Native American teams from the First Nations reserves in Central and Western NY, were the only non-Native American organization in the league). In 2017-
2018 season, they switched to a winter box lacrosse model.
