Q&A with HVCC Coach Matt Johnson

On Saturday October 20th, I had the chance to check in with HVCC Lacrosse coach Matt Johnson prior to the Vikings’ Alumni Game. In the vid below, Coach Johnson talks about HVCC lacrosse, and some of the influences on his approach to coaching, including UAlbany Coach Scott Marr, the Box game, and time spent with Miles and Lyle Thompson:

Alumni Game

At 7:00 PM, play kicked off between the current Vikings’ team, and a team of HVCC Alumni.  As a 1988 graduate of the program, I had the chance to play with alumni ranging from recent team members, to Bill Nieman of the HVCC class of 1984, who by the way scored on a crease dive!!  A little crazy to realize the players on the current team who we were up against are 30 years younger than me.  Seems like only yesterday that I was on a bus to play Cornell’s “JV” team, eating in the dining hall at the United States Military Academy after playing Army Prep, or battling with Herkimer in the NJCAA Regionals at canton.  Time flies!!
