2018 Glens Falls Season Preview

Glens Falls HS NYSPHSAA Section 2 Class C Foothills Council

Head Coach Tim Northrop coached Glens Falls from 2005-12. He returned in 2015 and enters his 4th season of his second tenure leading Glens Falls.  Coach Northrop recently took the time to check in with Capital District Lax to preview the Indians’ upcoming season.

In 2017 Glens Falls went 12-5, winning the Section 2 Class C Championship.  This 2017 Championship represents a continuation of the program’s success in recent years, as the Indians have won 10 Sectional Championships since 2000.  Jared Strong (Glens Falls 2012) will assist Coach Northrop again in 2018, largely running the defense.

According to Coach Northrop, Glens Falls maintains the same annual goals entering 2018. The Indians hope to put themselves in a position to compete for a Foothills and Section Championship in 2018.  The team returns some key offensive pieces from 2018. The Indians are hoping some of their young players will mature quickly to complement returning players.

Nolan Hogan (51 points in 2017) returns as a senior attackman. His leadership and scoring will be essential to guiding a young team toward success in 2018.  Hogan Fox, only a sophomore, returns as a third year starter coming off an injury plagued freshman season (38 points) after a 50 point season in 2016 as an 8th grader

The midfield group of Thompson Collins, Cooper Montgomery, Sam Hogan, David Barclay, Ethan Obermeyer and Liam Gormley will be young and relatively inexperienced, but Coach Northrup believes that they have the athleticism to develop into a strong unit.  Mitchell Montgomery and Trey Varney will be expected to provide senior leadership on the defensive end, ably assisted by sophomore Nick Danehy.

In addition to the Foothills Council schedule, Glens Falls will play out of Section games against Canton and Salmon River in April and at Rondout Valley in May.  For complete Glens Falls Lacrosse schedule info, visit: GLENS FALLS LACROSSE
