Robertson Named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Senior attack Chris Robertson has been named MAAC Preseason Player of the Year after his efforts on the field last season. The team was selected to finish fifth according to the Preseason Coaches Poll.

Reigning MAAC Player of the Year, Robertson has been named the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year. He is the sixth MAAC Preseason Player of the Year in Siena history and first since Richie Hurley in 2015. He was also selected to the Preseason All-MAAC First Team as an attackman. Robertson led the MAAC with 35 goals and was second as he scored 2.50 goals per game. His 2.50 goals per game ranked 22nd in the nation. He had seven man-up goals and one man-down goal, where his man-up goals were ranked second in the league and second in the NCAA. The Dundas, Ontario native ended his season on a 13-game scoring streak which is tied for ninth best of all active NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse players.

Monmouth was selected as the unanimous favorite after going undefeated in league play last year and taking the MAAC Championship title. Marist was selected second, with goalkeeper Brian Corrigan earning Goalkeeper of the Year as a unanimous selection. Quinnipiac (30) and Detroit Mercy (23) rounded out the top-four. The top four teams at the end of the season earn a spot in the MAAC Tournament. After missing the tournament by one game, the Saints were selected to finish fifth with 22 points just behind the Titans. Canisius was picked sixth with 21 points while Manhattan rounded out the poll with nine.

The Saints begin their 2018 campaign with a neutral site game in Victor, New York against Hobart on Saturday, February 17.
