The Capital District lacrosse community is mourning the passing of Coach Rick Randall. Coach Randall worked in the East Greenbush School District for forty years. During that time he served as Head Coach in football, boys basketball, boys lacrosse, and tennis. He also served as assistant coach in football, boys soccer, wrestling, boys lacrosse and baseball.
As a midfielder at Colgate University, Randall earned USILA All-America Honorable Mention recognition in 1959. Coach Randall’s honors further include membership in the Adirondack Chapter of US Lacrosse Hall of Fame, and the Columbia High School Hall of Fame for his contributions as a coach. Coach Randall led the Blue Devils to the 1986 NYSPHSAA Section II Championship, and contributed to the development of three High School All-Americans.
Coach Randall maintained a strong connection with his former players, including playing with them in the 2017 Columbia Lacrosse Alumni Game, where he scored a goal!
The Capital District lacrosse community offers its condolences to the Randall Family, and our continued appreciation and thanks to the memory of Coach Rick Randall and his outstanding contributions to the game in the region.
