225 Pairs of Cleats Donated by Dick’s Sporting Goods Stores!!!

On Monday November 20, 2017, the City of Albany and the US Lacrosse Communities Albany Project accepted a donation of 225 pairs of cleats collected from seven Dick’s Sporting Goods stores from the region.  The donation is intended to support the continued growth of the game in the City of Albany.

The donation effort was coordinated by Mike Tesoriero, a Dick’s store manager and noted alum of the Shaker High School, Herkimer Community College, and UAlbany Lacrosse programs.  The donated cleats were compiled from permanent display products provided to the stores by certain manufacturers.  According to Tesoriero, at the conclusion of the season, the stores can donate these display products to organizations of their choosing.

As a prominent member of the region’s lacrosse community, Tesoriero recognized the US Lacrosse Communities Albany Project to be an ideal recipient for a coordinated donation.  He successfully pitched the proposal to the Dick’s store managers in the region, resulting in a seven store collaborative donation of 225 pair of Under Armour and ADIDAS cleats, ranging from youth through adult sizes.

Contributors to the donation included the Albany/Crossgates Mall, Latham, Saratoga, Glens Falls, and Plattsburgh stores in New York, and the Rutland, and Burlington stores in Vermont.

George Leveille of the US Lacrosse Communities Albany Project commented, “We couldn’t be more appreciative of this donation.”  The donated cleats will be inventoried by the City of Albany Recreation Department, needs will be identified, and distribution will begin first through Albany City Schools based programs, and then to community based programs.

According to Leveille, the US Lacrosse Communities Albany Project is being administered through CityLax Albany in an effort to support the game in under served urban communities in the region.

Thank you to the region’s Dick’s Sporting Goods Stores for their support of lacrosse, and to Mike Tesoriero for his efforts in helping to grow the game!!!
