On Saturday May 6, 2017, the University at Albany Men’s Lacrosse team claimed the Automatic Qualifier to the NCAA tournament with a 20-8 home victory over Binghamton in the America East Championship.
Eight UAlbany players scored in the game, led by Tewaaraton Award candidate Connor Fields who scored three goals and handed out six assists, and Justin Reh who contributed five goals and an assist.
While seeded eighth in the NCAA tournament, UAlbany has risen to #4 in both the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll announced today. Although North Carolina won the ACC tournament, they enter the game as an at large since the five team ACC does not have an Automatic Qualifier (the NCAA requires six teams for a league AQ).
Local lacrosse fans will see a familiar face at Attack at UNC – Niskayuna grad Luke Goldstock who has 43 points on the season on 30 goals and 13 assists for the Tar Heels.
The game will be played at UAlbany’s Casey Stadium on Saturday May 13 at 7:30 PM. A rush of online ticket sales began immediately following the announcement that UAlbany would be hosting the game. The game is already nearing sell out. As of this writing, only 442 tickets remain for sale via UAlbany’s online ticket portal.
